We provide the following doctrinal affirmations as a summary of our convictions. However, in keeping with the introduction to the BF&M 2000 we affirm that “the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Confessions are only guides in interpretation, having no authority over the conscience.”

Big summary…seems rather creed-like to me. Confessions can and should be a guide, but ultimately the Holy Spirit is the guide to interpretation.
In response to another blog post by my ole Calvary friend Chris…I really think this is one of the main reasons folks are leaving the SBC. Personally, I think a lot have left. If we cleaned up our membership roles I think we’d be shocked.
