At the recent Unite Conference, hosted by the Pillar Network, Pastor Paul Rees from Charlotte Chapel, delivered a moving message from Mark 4, entitled “God’s Word Does The Work“. If you’re unfamiliar with Paul, he leads a rather large Baptist church in Edinburgh, Scotland, dedicated to planting and revitalizing churches throughout the British Isles. In a cluster of nations that are becoming more and more post-Christian, Charlotte Chapel’s work is critical in preserving a robust, gospel witness, in the land of John Knox.
One key take-away from Paul’s sermon is the aspect that marketing and pragmatism have failed to bring about revival to the Church in his homeland. Rather, Paul believes that a renewed dedication to God’s word, faithfully exposited, is the best hope for rekindling the Church in Western Europe.
