The SBC in St. Louis offered many pivotal moments in the life of our convention that will not soon be forgotten.
Quite possibly the foremost was the neck-and-neck presidential election between Steve Gaines and J. D. Greear. The election warranted an almost unprecedented third ballot, after the first two did not end in a simple majority for either candidate. Just before the third vote, Greear withdrew his name and placed his own vote for Gaines, as both men strove together for unity within the convention.
Southern Baptists in general, and we at B21, are proud of the humility shown by both candidates, and are excited to move forward unified under the presidency of Steve Gaines.
